season 5 leads us to believe that it is NOT Locke who is alive again on the island. Rather, it is Jacobs nemesis from centuries ago, taking the form of Locke's body. Hence, Jacob brings up the "loophole" note that was prefaced earlier. So yes, Locke IS still dead. They stress this with in the episode "Dead is Dead." I'm 99.9% positive we'll have confirmation of this in season 6.

i'll be so sad if Desmond died. i really want him with penny! and between sawyer and locke, makes more sense if sawyer dies cuz it would mean that locke is still on the island, but i really love sawyer so locke please die :)

Locke is not dead for real. If you think that Ben tells Jack about desperate plane journeys just to crash on the island. They made up a news for the newspaper just given to Jack upside so Jack can see it easily. Also, just one month before the funeral Locke meets Jack and Kate to tell them he uses fake identity of Jeremy Bentham and so bad things happened because of that they left the island. It is so obvious that it is a plan to get Ocaenic 6 back to the island. Writers should work harder. :)
